Dr. Pamela Kaw is an ophthalmologist at the Eye Health Center of Troy in Troy, New York. She specializes in general ophthalmology and has a special interest and passion for pediatric ophthalmology.
Dr. Kaw attended King George Medical School in Lucknow, India. She immigrated to the US in 1996 where she completed research in ocular pharmacology, a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology, and an ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical Center.
With a designated day each week for pediatric patients, Dr. Kaw ensures that the entire office meets the needs of children with specialized, focused care. She makes every effort to be accessible to patients, even when she’s out of office. She thoroughly enjoys her daily interactions with patients, and she places a strong emphasis on patient education.
Dr. Kaw is passionate about academics, especially teaching. She holds a faculty position of Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at Albany Medical Center and provides supervision to on-call ophthalmology residents, providing them with weekly eye exam training. She is happy to live and work during a time of excellence when it comes to therapeutic and surgical care.
As a physician for the Eye Health Center of Troy, she offers in-office procedures at the Troy location, as well as more advanced surgeries at Samaritan Hospital.
Dr. Kaw is a resident of Bethlehem, New York, and her husband is a psychiatrist in solo practice locally. When not at work, she loves gardening, cooking, and trekking. She believes strongly that diet, exercise, and family can modify most genetic predispositions for health and disease.
Dr. David Garfinkel is an optometrist at the Eye Health Center of Troy in Troy, New York. He performs routine eye exams, routine and specialty contact lens fittings, and diabetic eye exams. He also treats patients with dry eyes and minor eye infections.
Dr. Garfinkel received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Cartland State University. After graduation, he decided to study biological sciences and pursued a bachelor’s in biology and a Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia.
As a long-time resident of the area, Dr. Garfinkel has practiced in group and private practices for more than 30 years, including at his own practice in Mechanicville, New York.
Dr. Garfinkel is an avid athlete and outdoors enthusiast. When he’s not working, he enjoys volleyball, tennis, skiing, golf, and pickleball. He loves every opportunity to get to know his patients, and he strives to empower both children and adults to take good care of their eyes.
